Suspect who caused forest fire arrested
The suspect detained for allegedly starting the forest fire that began yesterday in the Akhisar district of Manisa has been arrested.
Teams continue to intervene in the fire that broke out yesterday in the forested area near the rural Karaköy neighborhood of the district.
Intervention efforts continue against the fire, which has spread between the Karaköy and Hasköy neighborhoods, with 43 water tenders, 15 fire trucks, 42 water tankers, 31 construction machines, and 879 personnel.
The procedures at the gendarmerie for D.B. (50), a beekeeper in the region who was detained on allegations of causing the fire through negligence, have been completed.
The suspect was referred to the courthouse and was arrested by the judge on duty.
THE FIRE
Due to the fire that started yesterday in the forested area near Karaköy neighborhood and grew under the influence of strong winds, the neighborhoods of Karaköy, Yenice, Dingiller, Çamönü, Hasköy, Durasıl, Kabaağaçkıran, Hüseyincik, and Küçükhasköy, as well as the Hancılar hamlet attached to Doğankaya neighborhood, were evacuated as a precaution, and the Akhisar-Gördes road was closed to traffic.
A suspect who works as a beekeeper in the region had been detained on allegations of causing the fire through negligence.
