Suspect who threatened CHP leader Özel's family arrested
The suspect, who was taken into custody in Trabzon for allegedly threatening CHP Chairman Özgür Özel's family on social media, has been arrested.
M.A. (23), who opened a social media account in the name of S.T., the individual who attacked CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, made threats against Özel's family.
Police identified the suspect's residence and took him into custody in the Of district of Trabzon.
After completing procedures at the Of Courthouse, the suspect was arrested by the court on charges of "making threats" and "inciting the public to hatred and hostility."
STATEMENT FROM INTERIOR MINISTER YERLİKAYA
Minister Yerlikaya made the following statement on his social media account regarding the arrest process:
"In the work carried out by the General Directorate of Security's Cybercrime Department, a suspect named M.A. was identified for making provocative posts regarding CHP Chairman Mr. Özgür Özel and his family through a fake social media account opened in the name of the attacker S.T.
In a coordinated operation with the Trabzon Provincial Police Department, the suspect named M.A. was taken into custody and arrested by the Of Criminal Court of Peace."
