Suspension decision for two CHP mayors
The Ministry of Interior has announced that Adalar Mayor Ali Ercan Akpolat and Silifke Mayor Mustafa Turgut have been suspended from their duties.
The following statement was made by the Ministry of Interior:
"Adalar Mayor Ali Ercan AKPOLAT, following his arrest under the decision of the Istanbul Anatolian 3rd Criminal Judgeship of Peace dated 23.06.2026 and numbered 2026/711, within the scope of an investigation conducted against him for the crimes of 'Establishing an Organization for the Purpose of Committing Crimes and Accepting Bribes'; and Silifke Mayor Mustafa TURGUT, following his arrest under the decision of the Silifke Chief Public Prosecutor's Office dated 22.06.2026 and numbered 2026/2236, within the scope of an investigation conducted against him for the crimes of 'Establishing an Organization for the Purpose of Committing Crimes and Accepting Bribes'; have been suspended from their duties by the Ministry of Interior as a temporary measure, in accordance with Article 127 of the Constitution and Article 47 of the Municipal Law No. 5393. Respectfully announced to the public."
