Syrian Airlines flies to Istanbul after 12 years

Following the resumption of flights by Turkish Airlines (THY) to the Syrian capital, Damascus, flight services between Turkey and Syria continue to increase.

In accordance with the permits granted by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (SHGM), the aircraft of Syria's flag carrier, Syrian Airlines, which departed from Damascus, landed at Istanbul Airport at 19:17.

The pilot of the Syrian Airlines plane, which made its first flight to Istanbul after a 12-year break, waved a Syrian flag from the cockpit window.

FLIGHTS WILL OPERATE 5 DAYS A WEEK

A ceremony was held at Istanbul Airport for the flight from the Syrian capital, Damascus, to Istanbul. The ceremony was attended by Fırat Ocak, Aviation Development Director of Istanbul Airport operator İGA, Syrian Airlines General Manager Semir Orabi, and other guests.

Following the ceremony, a cake was cut and a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held to commemorate the first flight. Syrian Airlines will operate Damascus-Istanbul flights 5 days a week, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
