Tahir Sarıkaya referred to court with request for arrest
Journalist Tahir Sarıkaya, who was detained as part of an investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, has been referred to court with a request for his arrest.
Journalist Tahir Sarıkaya was detained yesterday by the Istanbul Provincial Gendarmerie Command's Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime (KOM) Branch as part of an investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office's Organized Crime Investigation Bureau.
It was determined that there were high-amount money inflows and transfers of unknown origin in Sarıkaya's accounts, and that a portion of these transfers had been moved to crypto accounts.
Sarıkaya was referred to the courthouse today following his statement procedures at the Gendarmerie.
Tahir Sarıkaya, whose statement procedures were completed at the prosecutor's office, was referred to the Criminal Judgeship of Peace with a request for his arrest on charges of "blackmail."
