Taken from his home in a drug operation: Pro-government newspaper deletes Mert Yazıcıoğlu's name
As part of an investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, proceedings were initiated against 19 famous figures on charges of "using drugs or stimulants." However, there was a notable omission in the report by the pro-government Sabah newspaper: the name of Mert Yazıcıoğlu was censored.
As part of an investigation coordinated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Bureau of Smuggling, Narcotics, and Economic Crimes, a file was opened regarding "the use of drugs or stimulants," in which the names of many figures from the magazine and art world were mentioned.
Within the scope of the investigation, proceedings were initiated against 19 well-known figures. Teams from the Istanbul Provincial Gendarmerie Command carried out simultaneous operations at various addresses in the morning hours.
The names mentioned in the operation include Dilan Polat, Engin Polat, İrem Derici, Kubilay Aka, Kaan Yıldırım, Hadise Açıkgöz, Berrak Tüzünataç, Duygu Özaslan Mutaf, Demet Evgar Babataş, Zeynep Meriç Aral Keskin, Özge Özpirinçci, Mert Yazıcıoğlu, Feyza Altun, Derin Talu, Deren Talu, Ziynet Sali, Birce Akalay, Metin Akdülger, and Ceren Moray Orcan.
SABAH NEWSPAPER DID NOT INCLUDE MERT YAZICIOĞLU
According to Cumhuriyet, the Sabah newspaper, which was the first to report on the investigation, published a list of 19 names along with their photographs. However, there was a detail that did not escape the attention of careful readers.
The newspaper did not include the name of Mert Yazıcıoğlu, the lead actor of the series "Kuruluş Orhan," which is preparing to air on ATV, in its report.

This situation quickly became a trending topic on social media. Users criticized the report with comments such as, "Did censorship occur because he is the lead actor of the channel's series?"
Some journalists evaluated Sabah's stance as an example of media outlets applying "editorial intervention" for the sake of political and commercial relations.
