Taksim metro and funicular closed
A new decision has been made regarding the M2 Metro line in Istanbul. The Taksim station has been closed. The station had also been closed during rallies held in Saraçhane at the call of CHP leader Özgür Özel.
Metro Istanbul announced that the Taksim metro and the funicular have been closed in accordance with a decision by the Istanbul Governor's Office.
The metro and funicular will remain closed until further notice.
In a post on its social media account, Metro Istanbul stated: “In accordance with the decision taken by the Istanbul Governor's Office, as of 17:30 today, the Taksim station of the M2 Yenikapı-Hacıosman Metro Line and the F1 Taksim-Kabataş Funicular Line will be closed to operations until further notice. Trains will not stop at Taksim station and will continue their journey.”
