Speaking about the President of Religious Affairs Ali Erbaş returning his Audi A8 vehicle as part of austerity measures, Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan directed the question to Erbaş: "Is your fear of God greater, or your fear of Tayyip Erdoğan?"

"The President of Religious Affairs returned his A8 vehicle. This is equivalent to saying, 'I have been wasting money until now.' Have you not been listening to God, but instead listening to Tayyip Erdoğan? Is your fear of God greater, or your fear of Tayyip Erdoğan?"

THE PRESIDENCY OF RELIGIOUS AFFAIRS HAD ANNOUNCED THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED
The fact that President of Religious Affairs Ali Erbaş had requested a new vehicle and that an Audi A8 official car was allocated to him in response to this request had drawn backlash.
The Ministry announced that the Audi A8 official vehicle was returned within the scope of the austerity measures announced by Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek.
The following statements were used in the announcement made by the Presidency of Religious Affairs regarding the matter:
"One Audi A8 vehicle used in the service of our Presidency has been returned. Except for very essential needs, no purchases of fixtures, office supplies, stationery, etc., will be made in the central, provincial, and foreign organizations."
