Taxi driver fined 9,574 liras for carrying passengers without turning on taximeter in Beşiktaş
In Beşiktaş, a driver identified as carrying passengers without turning on the taximeter was fined 9,574 liras.
Istanbul Police Department teams launched an investigation after a video appeared on social media on February 25 showing a taxi driver taking passengers from "Kuruçeşme to Şişli for 280 liras" without turning on the taximeter.
As a result of their investigation, the teams apprehended the taxi driver, identified as Y.Y.
The driver was fined a total of 9,574 liras under the Highway Traffic Law for "operating a transport service without a municipal operating license" and "failing to turn on the taximeter."
Additionally, the taxi's operating license was revoked, and the vehicle was banned from traffic.
