Taxi drivers protest UKOME: Two drivers detained
In Istanbul, taxi drivers, finding the 28.9 percent fare increase decision by UKOME insufficient, pelted the hall where the meeting was held with stones.
It was reported that a group of taxi drivers protested the hall where the UKOME meeting was held in Merter, as they found the fare increase amount insufficient.
Following UKOME's decision for a 28.9 percent increase, the taxi drivers organized a protest at the hall where the meeting took place.
While the taxi drivers demanded that the short-distance fare be set at 120 TL, it was noted that this fee was reduced to 90 TL.
Police intervened against the taxi drivers following the incidents. After the intervention, two taxi drivers were detained.
