TBB and Bar Association Presidents to meet in Istanbul this evening
The Union of Turkish Bar Associations (TBB) and provincial Bar Association Presidents will hold an Extraordinary Bar Association Presidents Meeting in Istanbul this evening regarding the detention of numerous individuals, including Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and other mayors, during a dawn operation yesterday morning. Tomorrow, the Bar Association Presidents will also attend the hearing of the case against Istanbul Bar Association President İbrahim Kaboğlu and board members.
Bar Association Presidents arriving from all provinces of Turkey will hold a meeting this evening together with TBB President Erinç Sağkan.
In a statement issued by the TBB regarding the matter, it was stated, "The evaluations to be made will be shared with the public. We will continue to defend the rule of law, the independence of the judiciary, and human rights and freedoms under all circumstances."
HEARING OF THE ISTANBUL BAR ASSOCIATION CASE ON MARCH 21
On the other hand, the second hearing of the case filed against Istanbul Bar Association President İbrahim Kaboğlu and board members, with the demand for the termination of their duties and the election of a new administration, will be held on Friday, March 21, at 09:30 at the Istanbul Çağlayan Courthouse.
It has been learned that TBB President Erinç Sağkan and Bar Association Presidents will also attend the hearing, where a verdict is expected.
