Teacher who climbed onto water cannon at Özgür Özel's İzmir rally suspended: Governor's Office announces
D.Y., who climbed onto a water cannon (TOMA) during police intervention with pressurized water in İzmir and was subsequently detained, has been arrested by the court. The Istanbul Governor's Office announced that the individual, who is a teacher, has been suspended from duty.
The rally that CHP Chairman Özgür Özel was set to hold in İzmir yesterday was banned by the Governor's Office, and police intervened with pepper spray and pressurized water against citizens who wanted to enter the area.
During the intervention, a citizen climbed onto a TOMA to protest.
D.Y., who climbed onto the TOMA, was detained after being beaten.
It was learned that D.Y., who was the target of kicks, suffered a broken nose. D.Y. was arrested by the court where he was brought on charges of "Damaging Public Property" and "Resisting to Prevent the Performance of Duty."

On the other hand, the Istanbul Governor's Office announced the suspension of the individual, who is a teacher, with the following statement:
"It has been determined that the individual serves as a vice principal at a school in the Fatih district. The individual has been suspended from duty in accordance with Article 140 of the Civil Servants Law No. 657, and an administrative investigation process has been initiated regarding the matter."
The other two people detained along with D.Y. were released under judicial control conditions.
