Teams launch investigation: Claims of 'dinosaur fossil' discovery in Niğde
A citizen who claimed to have found a dinosaur fossil in Niğde has requested that the fossils be examined.
Sequential, fossil-like bones measuring approximately 20 meters in length found by the roadside near Başmakçı Village in the Ulukışla district of Niğde have become a subject of curiosity in the city.
The fossil-like bones, which were noticed by electrical worker Dursun Tekeli in Başmakçı Village, have been taken under examination by teams from the Niğde Museum Directorate.

Stating that he found the fossilized bone structures while working in the area, Dursun Tekeli claimed that the bone fragments could belong to a dinosaur skeleton, a species known to have gone extinct millions of years ago.

Tekeli said, "I noticed them while we were pulling wires with my friends. I reported it to the authorities. We estimated that it belongs to a long animal; it could be a dinosaur, it spans a distance of nearly 25 meters. This is not something that formed recently; these are now fossilized bones. I watch a lot of documentary channels and have an interest in such things, which is why it caught my attention."

The nature of the fossil-like bones, which are approximately 20 meters long and arranged in a sequence, will be understood following the examination to be conducted.
