Technology support for students in the Official Gazette: What are the application requirements?

The communiqué regarding the provision of technological device and internet support to university students has been published in the Official Gazette. With the communiqué, the application requirements for technological device support have also been determined.

WHO WILL BE ABLE TO PURCHASE TAX-FREE PHONES?

Accordingly, students who are citizens of the Republic of Turkey, have not yet turned 26 as of the date of purchase, and are enrolled in a higher education program, excluding open education programs, will be able to apply for the support.

THE SALES PRICE SHALL NOT EXCEED 9 THOUSAND 500 LIRAS

The final sales price of the device, including taxes, shall not exceed 9 thousand 500 liras, and the device cannot be second-hand.

It is also required that there be an invoice issued in an electronic environment for the purchased technological device and that the invoice be issued in the name of the student receiving the support, including their Republic of Turkey Identification Number.

The IBAN number provided for the purchased electronic device must also belong to the student.

WHERE AND HOW WILL APPLICATIONS BE MADE?

Students who wish to benefit from the technological device support will apply through the Ministry of Youth and Sports' information system.

Applications will be made via identity verification, and it will be mandatory to enter into the system the identity information, invoice number, invoice date, the tax identification number or Republic of Turkey Identification Number of the company from which the technological device was purchased, the phone number registered in their own name, the IBAN number, the IMEI number for mobile phone device support, and other information and documents requested by the ministry.

HOW WILL APPLICATIONS BE EVALUATED?

After the applications are evaluated, they will be rejected if they do not meet the requirements, and notification will be provided through the system.

If the application is accepted, the technological device support amount, calculated as 44.44 percent of the final sales price for mobile phone devices and 16.66 percent of the final sales price for computer devices, will be transferred by the Ministry of Youth and Sports to the account with the IBAN number provided by the student, and notification will be provided through the system.

Students can benefit from the support for different types of devices, but the support amount cannot exceed 5 thousand 500 Turkish Liras. Students who wish to receive internet support will also make their applications through the ministry's information system.

Students who wish to benefit from internet support will also be required to be enrolled in higher education programs, excluding open education programs, not have turned 26, and the phone line for which the support will be used must belong to the student.

Initial applications for benefiting from internet support will be made within two months starting from November 14.
