Temperatures to rise starting Thursday

Cengiz Çelik, a weather forecasting expert at the General Directorate of Meteorology of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, stated in his announcement regarding the weather conditions across the country that the cold and rainy system continues to be effective nationwide.

Stating that there will be precipitation in the northwestern and southern regions for the next two days, Çelik said, "Temperatures are hovering around seasonal norms for another two or three days, but we can say that the system will almost lose its effect starting Thursday. Both temperatures will rise and precipitation will be seen in a very small area. There is only precipitation for Friday in the east of Marmara and the Western Black Sea. We do not expect significant precipitation across the country from Thursday until the weekend."

6-DAY WEATHER FORECAST

Expressing that they expect precipitation for Tuesday across the Marmara Region, the Central Black Sea, the Central and Eastern Mediterranean, and the Southeastern Anatolia Region, Çelik said the following:

"Other than that, we have no expectation of precipitation. These rains will be seen as sleet and snow, especially in Marmara, including Istanbul, along with strong winds and northeasterly winds. We expect the precipitation in the Marmara Region to turn into rain starting from Tuesday afternoon. It will also be effective in the Marmara Region in the form of rain on Wednesday. In our southern regions, we expect precipitation for two more days in the Central and Eastern Mediterranean and the Southeastern Anatolia Region, as well as in the southeast of Eastern Anatolia. Precipitation will continue for Tuesday and Wednesday. These rains will again be seen as rain on our southern coasts, and as sleet and snow in other places. For Thursday, we only have a slight expectation of precipitation in the Central Black Sea across the country. Other than that, we do not expect any precipitation. Friday will be rainy in the east of Marmara and the Western Black Sea. Other than that, there is no precipitation across the country. There is precipitation in the Eastern Black Sea for Saturday. For Sunday, we only expect precipitation in the southeast of Eastern Anatolia."

EARTHQUAKE ZONE RAINY ON TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY

Stating that they expect precipitation in the earthquake zone for Tuesday and Wednesday, Weather Forecasting Expert Cengiz Çelik said, "This precipitation will be seen as rain on the coasts of Hatay and Adana, and as sleet and snow in other places. Starting from Thursday, we have no expectation of precipitation in the earthquake zone for 4-5 days. Temperatures in the earthquake zone will also start to rise towards the weekend. It will hover above seasonal norms throughout the coming week."

ANKARA

Stating that there is no expectation of precipitation in Ankara for the next week, Çelik said, "The weather will first be partly to very cloudy. Starting from Thursday, we expect partly to slightly cloudy weather. Temperatures in Ankara are currently around seasonal norms. The temperature is suitable for snowfall, but since we do not expect precipitation, snowfall is not expected in Ankara. From the weekend onwards, temperatures will rise well above seasonal norms. We will see temperatures above 10 degrees."

ISTANBUL

Stating that the expectation of sleet until Tuesday afternoon and snowfall in higher areas continues in Istanbul, Çelik said, "We are currently seeing intermittent sleet in Istanbul. We expect rain in Istanbul for Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday. There is no precipitation for Thursday. There is a short-term rainy spell for Friday. For the weekend, we expect partly to slightly cloudy weather in Istanbul again. Temperatures in Istanbul will also rise gradually. Temperatures, which are 7-8 degrees on Tuesday and Wednesday, will rise to 10 degrees and above on the weekend."

IZMIR

Stating that they do not expect precipitation in Izmir, Çelik shared the information, "The weather will first be partly to very cloudy, and from Thursday onwards it will be slightly cloudy. The highest temperatures in Izmir, which are 11-12 degrees, will see 15-16 degrees starting from the weekend."

STRONG WIND AND STORM WARNING

Issuing a strong wind and storm warning, Çelik said the following:

"When we look at the land, strong winds continue in Marmara. We have a storm expectation for Tuesday, especially in the southwest of Marmara, in the western districts of Çanakkale and Balıkesir, and in the northern districts of Izmir. Apart from that, we expect storms in our seas. We estimate that the wind will blow in the form of a storm from the north and northeast directions in the Western Black Sea, Marmara, the North Aegean, and the Eastern Mediterranean. It is useful to be careful against disruptions in transportation."

Weather Forecasting Expert Cengiz Çelik pointed out that icing and frost events are still continuing, especially in the interior regions, and stated that precautions should be taken against icing and frost in the early hours of the night and morning for the next 1-2 days in the Marmara Region as well.
