Temporary restrictions on protests, demonstrations, and events in Antalya
The Antalya Governor's Office has announced that all protests, demonstrations, and events are prohibited throughout the province from 08:00 on Wednesday, July 1, until 23:59 on Thursday, July 9, due to the 36th NATO Summit of Heads of State and Government to be held in Ankara on July 7-8.
According to the statement issued by the Governor's Office, comprehensive measures have been taken to prevent potential protests, marches, and similar activities that may arise during the summit process.
The ban, which will be applied throughout the province including areas under the responsibility of the Gendarmerie and Coast Guard, will begin at 08:00 on Wednesday, July 1, and continue until 23:59 on Thursday, July 9.
Activities covered by the ban
In accordance with the decision taken by the Antalya Governor's Office, marches, press statements, sit-in protests, setting up stands or tents, organizing signature campaigns, self-binding/locking protests using chains or similar materials, laying wreaths, sticking stickers, distributing brochures, hanging posters and banners, and all kinds of protest demonstrations are prohibited, regardless of the number of participants.
Exemptions
The Governor's Office stated that some exceptions have been made to avoid disrupting the normal flow of life. Accordingly, official events to be organized by public institutions with limited participation within the scope of official holidays and important days, as well as congresses and general assemblies within the scope of mandatory management activities of political parties, associations, and foundations, and commercial activities organized for the purpose of economic gain will be exempt from this prohibition decision.
