WHAT HAPPENED?
Mine workers who opposed the privatization of the Çayırhan Thermal Power Plant and Mine in the Nallıhan district of Ankara, and who had locked themselves in the mine on November 20, 2024, resisting for 9 days for the cancellation of the privatization and deciding to march to Ankara, were informed by government officials that the privatization and asset sale of the Çayırhan Thermal Power Plant and Mines had been postponed to March 4, 2025, while they were reaching Beypazarı from Çayırhan.
For this reason, the workers, who paused their march, resumed their walk from Beypazarı toward Ankara on February 10; however, the demands of the workers, who reached Ankara on February 13, were once again not accepted.
The action subsequently restarted by the workers is ongoing.
