Tense moments at Çağlayan before İmamoğlu's testimony... CHP's Gökçek: Police blocked our path

As part of an investigation launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on charges of espionage, Ekrem İmamoğlu will testify at the Çağlayan Courthouse today at 11:00 AM. The CHP issued a call for supporters to gather at Çağlayan Square to show their support for İmamoğlu.

VEHICLE PASSAGE DENIED

Following the call, the CHP attempted to position its sound vehicle in Çağlayan Square. The path of the CHP bus, carrying MPs Umut Akdoğan and Ali Gökçek, was blocked by a civilian vehicle. The MPs stated that police officers emerged from the vehicle.

"THEY BROUGHT THE CAR IN FRONT OF US AND CLAIMED IT BROKE DOWN"

Gökçek made a statement, noting that a civilian vehicle had been pulled in front of theirs.

Speaking to T24, Gökçek said, "I wanted to place our vehicle in the area for the call made for tomorrow. As soon as they saw us, they brought that car and placed it right in front of us. Then they said, 'The car broke down, we can't move it.' Because they cannot move it from in front of us, they are not allowing us to pass. They are trying to prevent us from getting through.

We wanted to go about 150 meters further ahead. We wanted that spot because it would be more convenient in terms of traffic. Otherwise, the place where they stopped us is right across from the sign for the Istanbul Courthouse. So, the place where we are currently stopped is actually a worse spot for them," he said.
