Tension between unions: Allegation that a 'disabled civil servant was assaulted' at the Diyanet
Tensions have risen between the Spiritual Principled Meritorious Diyanet and Foundation Employees Union (MİL Diyanet-Sen) and Diyanet-Sen, which operate among employees of the Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet). It is alleged that the Diyanet-Sen Provincial President assaulted a disabled civil servant in the mufti's office building.
MİL Diyanet-Sen has alleged that Gaziantep Diyanet-Sen Provincial President Müslüm Göral assaulted a disabled civil servant in the mufti's office building.
According to a report in Cumhuriyet, following an investigation, Göral's place of duty was changed by the Presidency of Religious Affairs, but the decision was not implemented for 3 months.
In a statement, MİL Diyanet-Sen said, “The previously issued decision for a change of duty outside the region was converted to within the province of Gaziantep, and Göral was allowed to work in the city center.”
MİL Diyanet-Sen stated that Göral, whose place of duty was changed due to the assault incident, was later appointed as the Gaziantep Memur-Sen Provincial President.
