Tension during budget negotiations in the Turkish Parliament: Cartoon brought by DEM Party MPs causes friction, scuffles break out

During thebudget negotiations for the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Culture and Tourismand related institutions,DEM Party Diyarbakır MP Ceylan Akça Cupolo and Mardin MP Beritan Günebrought a cartoon to the floor.Altın delivered a speech. Both deputies made theirspeeches at the podiumwith a cartoon depictingMinister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak playing a tug-of-war game withthe youth.

AKP Group Deputy Chairman Leyla Şahin Usta requested the floor from Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Celal Adan.CHP Group DeputyChairman Murat Emirstating that they are conductingthe budget negotiations,saying, "This isa Parliament, this is the nation'spodium; here, things are discussed,here, one speaks,here, one speaks loudly,one speaks with emphasis, and when necessary, here IAccording to our Rules of Procedure, materials that do not disturb the peace of the General Assembly may be brought in. I refrain from reminding you of this, I am embarrassed, but I am forced to remind you,he said.

Objections rose from the AKP benches.AKP Group Deputy ChairpersonLeyla Şahin Usta stated that bringing a cartoon to the parliamentarypodium was against the internal regulations,saying that what shewas talking aboutstated that CHP Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir could not determine what would happen. Usta turned towards the CHP benchesandwhen he did, other deputies also stood up from their seats. Scuffles broke out among the deputies.
