Tension over 'character assassination' between CHP leader Özel and TGRT Editor-in-Chief Ercan Seki: 'I am stating that this is wrong'
A notable conversation took place between CHP Chairman Özgür Özel and TGRT Editor-in-Chief Ercan Seki, who crossed paths at the April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day reception held at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).
Ercan Seki said, "As the TGRT Editor-in-Chief, I am owed a cup of tea by you. Because you constantly mention TGRT at rally squares, I cannot come over for tea."
In response to these words, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel replied, "We have no problem with individuals.
But we are facing a major character assassination.
In your broadcasts, information that has no relation to reality is passed to you by Furkan Torlak.
That information is then used to commit character assassination against our friends and us without passing through any filter.
Photos of my daughter's house are published, and her address is revealed. Countless lies are told.
I still maintain all my respect.
I am simply stating that this is a wrong thing to do.
We always welcome you for tea, and we welcome you for a meal. We will not surrender to character assassination."
