Tensions rise at CHP closed-door group meeting! Özgür Özel responds to intra-party opposition: 'I don't have the comfort afforded to Atatürk'

A closed-door meeting with members of parliament was held at the Republican People's Party (CHP) Headquarters.

While the roadmap for the 2025 central budget's General Assembly deliberations in the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) was discussed, plans regarding the deputies' provincial visits were also made.

According to a report by Eray Görgülü on Ekol TV, tensions rose in the meeting after assignments regarding budget negotiations and field visits were made.

According to information obtained, deputies from the intra-party opposition requested a closed-door group meeting at the end of the session to discuss party policies. CHP Kahramanmaraş Deputy Ali Öztunç recalled Atatürk's words: "When you see a mistake in the party, you will criticize it."

"DO NOT MAKE STATEMENTS VIA SOCIAL MEDIA"

Following these remarks, it is alleged that CHP leader Özgür Özel stated, "I don't have the comfort afforded to Atatürk. There was no social media back then. Do not make statements via social media."

"WE WILL PART WAYS"

It is claimed that Özel used a harsher tone in the continuation of his remarks and said, "We will part ways" if the criticisms continue. Özel also stated that he did not find the request for a closed-door group meeting to discuss intra-party policies appropriate.

However, it was learned that a closed-door group meeting is planned for the coming days to discuss foreign policy, primarily the developments in Syria.
