Terms updated for Roblox!

Roblox Corporation has announced changes to its child safety policy to regulate how pre-teen children interact with the gaming platform. Recently, Roblox has faced serious accusations, particularly regarding claims that it has been insufficient in ensuring the safety of child players. It had been alleged that children were being exposed to violent and pornographic content at a young age. For similar reasons, Roblox was also banned in Turkey in recent months.

Until now, Roblox had denied the reports and accusations made against it, claiming that the published reports were "misleading." However, this change in its child safety policy, in a way, confirms the validity of these accusations.

The company announced in an email sent to parents that parental consent will be required for children under 13 to use chat features. Additionally, it was stated that children under 9 will need extra permission to play experiences containing "mild violence and crude humor." Roblox also explained that as the user's age increases beyond these levels, the restrictions will be automatically lifted. In other words, even if parents or users do not manually make these changes, Roblox will gradually open up content access based on age.

Furthermore, a new account type will be introduced next month. Parents will be able to link this account to their child's account to access parental controls from their own devices and monitor their children's online activities and friends.

Following these changes, it is being awaited with curiosity whether there will be any developments regarding the ban on Roblox in Turkey.
