Terrifying new allegations regarding July 15!..

One of the defendants, former staff colonel Bilal Akyüz, claimed that a retired police chief told them that 15-20 days before July 15, they were given instructions to fill the tanks of TOMA (riot control vehicles) with gasoline instead of water, and that this was planned to burn down the General Staff headquarters. Akyüz also alleged that on that night, apart from Süleyman Soylu and Ayhan Bora Kaplan, there were certain jihadist groups in front of the TRT building, and that these groups wanted to kill the soldiers, but the mafia prevented this by saying, "What is the soldiers' fault?" Akın Öztürk, a former general known as the "number 1" of the coup, said, "When I saved Yaşar Güler, he grabbed my hands while crying. But not a single brave man has come here to talk about these things. There is a lot of dirty business. May God help our country."

In the morning session of the trials, which were separated from the General Staff "Roof Case" and are being heard separately by the Ankara 17th High Criminal Court at the Sincan Prison Campus, the file regarding the injuries was addressed.

After the presiding judge announced that they would continue to wait for the results of the cases where the primary perpetrators are being tried, he took the statements and requests of the defendants and their lawyers.

Mehmet Partigöç, whose name is on the coup declaration, pointed out that although they are being tried in Ankara and their sentences were handed down there, they were sent to other prisons, adding that this affects a fair trial.

The Police Chief Arrested by Mistake

Defendant Bilal Akyüz, a former staff colonel known for conducting the most comprehensive research on the martyrs and veterans, requested that both cases be merged and brought up some allegations he stated he had recently learned regarding July 15:

"There is a retired police chief named V.Ö., who was the chief of the Riot Police at Güvenpark before July 15, who was arrested because his name appeared on the SD card obtained from the code-named 'Garson' (Waiter), and was released after staying in Sincan Prison for a while because 'there was a mistake.' While in prison, he told those in his ward, '15-20 days before July 15, we were given the order to fill the TOMA tanks with gasoline instead of water. When the instruction came in accordance with this order, the General Staff was going to be burned down.' For this reason, I request that V.Ö. be heard as a witness and that all statements he has given be brought in. I also examined the file of the coup case in Sakarya and identified 13 critical incidents there. Let me tell you a few. For example, there is the statement of a police chief. When the soldiers left the barracks, he called the Governor and asked, 'Shall we close the road to the Governor's Office?' The Governor gave the instruction, 'Let them come, but close the return road so the soldiers cannot get out of here.' The soldiers' departure time is 23:15. However, there are messages sent to citizens between 21:00 and 21:30 saying, 'The Governor's Office is under siege, come to the Governor's Office.' The driver of a district mayor testified, 'We sent those messages.' Another incident; one of the injured was asked if the person who shot him was former sergeant Y.Y. He said, 'Yes, it was him, he was wearing a pink shirt and jeans.' However, Y.Y. was in camouflage and wearing a helmet that day. In the footage, there is a civilian with a pink shirt, jeans, and a Kalashnikov in his hand. For these reasons, all statements and minutes in the Sakarya file, camera and MOBESE footage, and autopsy and ballistic reports should be added to the file."

Bilal Akyüz's allegations were not limited to these; he also noted the following:

"There is an important issue, I learned it somehow. If I, as a prisoner, am hearing it, it will surely come out one day. Based on a detainee's statement that Süleyman Soylu and Ayhan Bora Kaplan acted together before and after July 15, I want the answers to the following questions to be asked of Soylu, Kaplan, Binali Yıldırım, and person X, whose name I will not disclose for now: Is it true that some weapons were sold in Libya and Syria before July 15, that a Jewish merchant was at the head of this business, and that this was reflected in the Ministry of Interior reports? Is it true that there was a jihadist group in front of the TRT on July 15, that they wanted to kill the soldiers, but the mafia prevented it by saying, 'What is the soldiers' fault?' Is it true that Süleyman Soylu knew that an assassination attempt was being organized against Binali Yıldırım and said, 'Let them not take us away like Binali Yıldırım'? Is it true that there was a team of 30-40 people on the Bosphorus Bridge, that person X organized them, and that person X, whose name I do not give because I do not find it appropriate, collected millions of dollars from the rich for the July 15 martyrs and veterans? The answers to these questions will shed a little more light on July 15."

The Commanders' Visit to Akın Gürlek

Muhsin Kutsi Barış, the then-Commander of the Presidential Guard Regiment, also requested that the court definitely examine the TRT case file; he also requested that Numan Kurtulmuş, Süleyman Soylu, Ayhan Bora Kaplan, the then-TRT General Manager Şenol Göka, and his deputy İbrahim Eren be heard as witnesses, while reacting to National Defense Minister Yaşar Güler's congratulatory visit to Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek along with the Chief of General Staff and force commanders:

"The commanders are going to congratulate the minister in their uniforms. The point to be reached with these people is a disaster. The military has never been involved in politics this much."

"These Are the Men to Whom We Entrusted an Army of 700 Thousand"

Former general Akın Öztürk, who was sentenced to 141 aggravated life sentences on charges of being the "number 1" of the coup, but whom the United Nations Human Rights Council Working Group on Arbitrary Detention requested to be released immediately on the grounds that he was not tried fairly, said the following:

"I learn new things every day and I am very sad. My first statement 10 years ago has not changed at all. My only connection with July 15 is that, upon the request of the then-Air Force Commander, I went to Hulusi Akar while I was lying at home and helped him. Finally, he said, 'Let's go to Binali Yıldırım together, let's explain it together.' However, after talking to Binali Yıldırım, he said, 'You stay, I will have you picked up later.' He defended me at the Çankaya Mansion; Tuğrul Türkeş and the former Minister of National Defense are witnesses. The Parliamentary Commission took Akar's statement. He never mentioned me. I haven't been able to explain my troubles for 10 years. No one asked me anything about the Peace at Home Council. I couldn't explain my troubles to the judges and prosecutors who call themselves Muslim Turks, to our own people; I explained them to the UN, that is, to the foreigners. When I saved Yaşar Güler, he grabbed my hands while crying. These are the men to whom we entrusted an army of 700 thousand. Not a single brave man has come here to talk about these things. Let Hulusi Akar come and tell me which of my actions that night he suspected, and I will accept all the accusations. There is a lot of dirty business. May God help our country."

Savaş Kabaklı, a former lieutenant colonel who was the Chief of Staff of the Mamak 28th Mechanized Infantry Brigade during the July 15 period, pointed out that a person who appears in Etimesgut in the records claimed to have been injured in front of the Ankara Police Department, and requested that the HTS and base station records of all the injured be brought in.

After the statements were completed, the Court decided to reject all requests except for the bringing of the Sakarya and TRT case files, and to continue waiting for the results of the cases where the primary perpetrators are being tried.

In the case regarding the martyrs, which was heard in the same court in the afternoon, the defendants voiced similar requests, emphasizing that they are being tried with a demand for 109 aggravated life sentences, but because they are convicts and not detainees in this case, they cannot meet with their lawyers or receive legal aid, and they requested to be arrested.

The court, in addition to the decisions in the injury case, rejected the arrest request and adjourned both cases to October 5.
