Testimony of arrested journalist Fatih Ergin in court revealed

Journalist Fatih Ergin, who was arrested on charges of "publicly disseminating misleading information" following a post on his social media account regarding the suspicious death of former MİT official Kaşif Kozinoğlu in prison, did not accept the accusations in his court testimony.

Nefes.com.tr News Manager Ergin stated that he made the post but corrected the news after receiving an information note from the prosecutor's office. Ergin expressed that the same information had appeared in various other media outlets and that he was not the original publisher of the news.

"I made the post. However, when the information note arrived from the prosecutor's office 1 hour later, I made a correction to my report. Many other media outlets shared this news besides me. I did not produce this news. I am not the one who first spread it to news sites. I shared what I saw. If this information had only come to me, there would have been differences in the content of the news. I do not accept the accusation."

It was reported that in his testimony, Ergin also addressed the comments under his post targeting Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek and the Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor. Ergin stated that he did not approve of these comments and that he would file a criminal complaint against the relevant account holders.

During the process subject to the investigation, the death of 66-year-old Turgay Tamer, who served as a campus doctor at the prison where Kozinoğlu was held, in his home in Büyükçekmece, Istanbul, had come to the agenda. It was noted that Ergin had initially used the phrase "forensic medicine employee" for Tamer, but corrected this information shortly after.
