Testimony of court clerk who stole weapons from judicial evidence locker revealed: I wanted to commit suicide

The testimony of the court clerk, who was arrested after being identified as having sold 9 weapons as part of the investigation launched by the Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, has been revealed.

"I HAD DEBTS"

In his statement to the prosecutor, the suspect U.E. said, "I do not accept the statement I gave to the police. I want to benefit from the effective remorseprovisions. I I am currently working as a court clerk at the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Forgery and Fraud CrimesBureau.Although I do not remember the exact date,I was assignedas a court clerkat the Adalar Chief Public Prosecutor's Office in March 2023.During my time working there,I was tasked withDuring this period, I was going through a difficult time due to problems with my spouse. At the same time, I had debts of approximately 1.5 million TL. In line with the work division at the Adalar Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, I was assigned to the Custody Transactions Bureau. In the year 2023In the autumn of 2023, I secretly took 1 weapon from the custody office. I do not remember the brand or serial number of the first weapon I took. I brought the weapon I took to my residence in the Tuzla district.My intentionwas to commit suicide with this weapon. However, on that dayI could not muster the courage to do so. I left the weaponat my residence in the Tuzla districtand the next dayI continued my duties at the Adalar Courthouse. At the end of the day, the thought of suicidereturned.Due to theweight of mydepression, I took another weapon from the evidence locker this time. I went to a woodedarea in the Tuzla Aydınlıregion. However, I still could not bring myself to commit suicide," he said.

"I WASSTOPPEDBY POLICE OFFICERS"

Explaining how he was caught with the 2 weapons, U.E. said, "While the first weapon was still in my possession, my purpose in taking a second weaponwasdue to not wanting to face my family. Since the first weapon I took was at my residence, I wanted to commit suicide when my wife was not around. As I stated justbefore, since I could not find the courage to commit suicide, my intention was to take both weapons and return them to the evidence storage at the Adalar Courthouse without anyone knowing. On the morning of October 2, 2023, when I went to the Kartal coast to go to the Adalar Courthouse, I was stopped by police officerson patrol duty.During the search, two weapons were found in the bagI was carrying.upon the discovery of the judicialproceedings, theytook me to the police station for further action. On the grounds ofpossessing an unlicensedfirearm, apublic lawsuit was filedagainst me.said.

"IPARTIALLY ADMIT TO THE ACCUSATIONS"

TheaccusationsPartially admitting the charges, U.E. stated, "I have no information regarding the other weapons alleged to be missing. I have not obtained any financial gain. I do not know the individuals named S.K. and N.K. I have no knowledge of how the weapon that should have been in custody was obtained from these individuals." I partiallyaccept theaccusationsbrought against me. Furthermore, I deleted the WhatsApp applicationon my mobile phone, which was seized by law enforcementofficers, because it contained correspondence regarding illegal betting.
