Testimony of Ege Akersoy, who punched a person carrying a 'Tawhid' flag, has emerged
The testimony of Ege Akersoy, who punched İsmail Aydemir for carrying a 'Tawhid' flag at the 'Mercy to Our Martyrs, Support for Palestine, Curse on Israel' rally organized by foundations and associations close to the AKP, has emerged.
A march titled "Mercy to Our Martyrs, Support for Palestine, Curse on Israel" was held in Istanbul yesterday (January 1) under the leadership of TÜGVA.
İsmail Aydemir, who attended the rally carrying a 'Tawhid' flag, was subjected to a physical assault by university student Ege Akersoy.
The testimony of Akersoy, who was arrested, has emerged.
THE SAUDI ARABIA DETAIL
In his statement to the prosecutor's office, Akersoy stated that his father is a retired major and that he was raised with nationalist sentiments, saying, "Given that Saudi Arabia recently took actions against our country by making an issue out of the photograph of our country's founding leader, and following the martyrdom of our 12 soldiers in recent terrorist attacks, I expected a Turkish citizen to carry a Turkish flag. When I saw the person coming towards me carrying a green flag with Arabic writing on it, I said to him, 'Are you not a Turkish citizen? We are in sensitive times.'"
The suspect explained that after the victim, Aydemir, replied to him by saying, "I will carry whatever I want," a scuffle broke out between them, and he claimed that he threw the punch to protect himself after the individual approached him.
Asserting that he did not use any derogatory language towards any nation, E.A. stated that his intention was to warn Aydemir.
