TFF granted internet censorship authority!
The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has made a controversial decision. With a ruling dated October 22, 2024, the TFF blocked access to Google's Blogger platform.
According to a statement made by the Freedom of Expression Association (İFÖD), Google's free blog platform known as http://blogspot.com has been blocked by a decision of the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) dated October 22, 2024. This authority, granted to the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) without any judicial approval, has sparked reactions.
"DANGEROUS AND ARBITRARY"
Cyber law expert Yaman Akdeniz, who made a statement on the matter via his social media account, used the following expressions:
"We have previously stated how dangerous and arbitrary it is for the Turkish Football Federation to be granted the authority to block access without requiring judicial approval. The arbitrary use of this power is just as problematic as having the authority itself."
