The Boeing aircraft puzzle continues
Turkish Airlines (THY) Chairman of the Board Ahmet Bolat stated that if negotiations with engine manufacturer CFM do not yield results, they may turn to Airbus aircraft instead of the Boeing 737 MAX.
Turkish Airlines (THY) Chairman of the Board Ahmet Bolat made statements to Reuters at a roundtable meeting held in Stockholm. Bolat stated that THY's negotiations with engine manufacturer CFM regarding Boeing 737 MAX orders are ongoing.
In his assessment of the process, Bolat said, "When the negotiations with CFM began, we were much further apart; there is still some distance to cover regarding costs."
"IF AN AGREEMENT CANNOT BE REACHED WITH CFM, WE MAY TURN TO AIRBUS"
Addressing the uncertainty regarding engine supply, Bolat said, "If we cannot reach an agreement with CFM, we may turn to Airbus instead of the Boeing 737 MAX." Noting that the negotiations are still ongoing, Bolat recorded that a final decision on this matter has not yet been made.
"NO RUSH" MESSAGE FOR ORDERS
THY Chairman Ahmet Bolat also touched upon the purchase of Boeing 777X aircraft. Bolat stated, "We are still interested in the Boeing 777X aircraft purchase, and we are closely following developments regarding this aircraft. We are waiting for the right time to order the 777X aircraft; we are in no rush."
