The grim toll of the Eid al-Adha holiday: Minister Yerlikaya announces
Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya announced that 62 people lost their lives and 8,690 people were injured in traffic accidents that occurred during the first 7 days of the Eid al-Adha holiday.
Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya announced the toll of accidents that occurred during Eid al-Adha on his social media account.
In his statement on his social media account, Minister Yerlikaya noted that in the 24-hour period yesterday, 13 people lost their lives and 1,007 people were injured in 597 traffic accidents.
Stating that teams inspected 406,165 vehicles, Yerlikaya reported that speed and radar enforcement actions were taken against 21,129 vehicles, and other enforcement actions were taken against 39,021 vehicles.
"Please do not speed. Let us not neglect to wear seat belts in our vehicles and on buses. Let us obey traffic rules," warned Yerlikaya, as he announced the toll for the 7-day holiday.
Minister Yerlikaya stated, "In the first 7 days of the holiday (Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday), unfortunately, 62 people lost their lives. 8,690 people were injured."
