The discovery of Ayşe Tokyaz's body in a suitcase by the side of a road in Istanbul's Eyüpsultan district has caused a major outcry in Turkey. The 22-year-old nursing student, Tokyaz, was murdered by Cemil Koç, a former police officer she met on social media. After the murder, Koç placed the body in a suitcase and left it by the roadside. The details of the incident and Koç's cold-blooded demeanor have sparked public outrage.

THE HORRIFIC PLAN BEHIND THE MURDER

Ayşe Tokyaz went to Cemil Koç's home in Küçükçekmece on the evening of July 9. Allegedly, after Tokyaz rejected Koç's marriage proposal, she was held captive by Koç and killed after being struck on the head with a blunt object. Forensic reports revealed that the young woman had a fractured skull and a brain hemorrhage.

Following the murder, Koç had the bloodstains in the house cleaned and the walls painted red in an attempt to destroy the evidence. On the night of July 11, security cameras recorded Koç and an accomplice placing the body into a suitcase and loading it into his orange car. Koç took the body to Eyüpsultan, where he purchased deodorant from a gas station in an attempt to mask the odor. The body was discovered on the morning of July 13.

KILLER ARRESTED

Police detained Cemil Koç and 6 other suspects following an analysis of security camera footage and a complaint filed by Ayşe's twin sister, Esra. While Koç exercised his right to remain silent at the police station, the other suspects confessed to having been paid to transport the body. Koç was arrested on charges of "premeditated murder," while the other suspects were arrested for "aiding and abetting premeditated murder."
