The 'lieutenants' feud between Mehmet Metiner and Yiğit Bulut escalates
The feud within the AKP over the lieutenants is escalating. Following a harsh statement by former AKP deputy Mehmet Metiner, Yiğit Bulut, chief advisor to AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, responded with the statement, "I will speak tomorrow."
Lieutenants who recently graduated from the Military Academy drew their swords and took an oath in the name of the founder of the Republic of Turkey, the Great Leader Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
Circles close to the government implied that the young lieutenants were 'coup plotters' based on the images in question.
AKP Spokesperson Ömer Çelik, in a statement made after his party's Central Executive Board (MKYK) meeting, said the following regarding the issue:
"Speaking in terms of 'these images were a message to Erdoğan, a message to the government' is a matter of reviving the old guardianship mentality. Furthermore, it is unacceptable to insult the lieutenants while claiming to respond to them."
STATEMENT FROM YİĞİT BULUT AFTER ÇELİK'S REMARKS
Following Çelik's statement, AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's chief advisor Yiğit Bulut shared the following on his X account:
"Whatever Ömer Çelik says regarding the lieutenants and the oath ceremony is the final word! The efforts of the dregs and the marginalized to sow discord between the great Turkish nation and the Turkish Armed Forces are in vain! Let us be careful against the efforts of crypto-FETÖ members, regardless of which party they belong to, to sow discord!"
HARSH REACTION FROM METİNER TO BULUT
Former AKP deputy Mehmet Metiner reacted to Bulut's post.
Metiner, who posted a series of tweets on his X account, stated the following:
"Know your place before you speak! Accusing everyone who opposes or criticizes you with this tone is an expression of insolence. Since when did you become more of an AK Party supporter than everyone else, and since when are you beating people with the AK Party's stick! Our AK Party has reached this state because of dregs like you. The one sowing discord is your language.
There is no need for cunning. Or for dirty tricks. It is a dirty trick beyond insolence to hide behind the name of our party spokesperson Ömer Çelik, to create a perception as if he were the approving authority for those words, and to target people who have dedicated their lives to their cause, standing on the shoulders of our forty-year comrade, just because they criticized the unlawful oath ceremony of those lieutenants, accompanied by ugly accusations.
"THE ATTITUDE OF WEAK MEN WHO LACK THE COURAGE"
Look at the cunning! Using our party spokesperson Ömer Çelik against us and positioning us against Ömer Çelik, that is, against our party, is only the attitude of weak men who do not have the courage to settle their personal scores on their own.
Is Mr. Bahçeli, who criticized the unlawful oath ceremony of those lieutenants, a crypto-FETÖ member, a provocateur who wants to pit the Turkish nation against the TSK, or are people like our former minister Mustafa Varank, who have been the President's companions from the very beginning?
You cannot be insolent by making such general accusations. None of us insulted or cursed those lieutenants, nor did we accuse the TSK of being coup plotters based on that action. There is simply an issue that almost the entire base of the AK Party and even the People's Alliance does not find correct and criticizes.
What kind of logic is it to consider expressing such a small opinion as provocation or crypto-FETÖ membership? Being able to speak like this despite the sentiments of the vast majority of the AK Party base will lead to the result of severing the AK Party from its own base.
"HE IS SETTING A TRAP IN HIS OWN MIND"
This is the real political provocation. This non-AK Party language, which accuses the AK Party base by calling them dregs, is unfortunately an operational language that aims to stop the AK Party from being the AK Party. That person is setting a trap in his own mind. Thinking he is very smart. Using the power of the title he carries, he sees himself entitled to snap at millions of AK Party members. It is deeply saddening that someone who would not be considered anything but dregs if not for that title uses such an aggressive, high-handed language.
The AK Party is our party. The President is our president. We are together in victory and in defeat. The rights of all our current administrator brothers are our rights. We have never been among those who approve of any approach that discredits them. We will not be. We are AK Party supporters; because it is the President's party. That is, because of the President.
"THE JELLY-HAIRED PRESIDENTIAL ADVISOR"
If that party were the party of people like Y.B., we would not stay for a second. Just as we do not leave the insults of people like Y.B. regarding our own party and our President unanswered, we do not hold a grudge against our party or our President by looking at those words.
We believe that when the time comes, the President will cleanse the party of those dregs. Do I need to remind you that one should not fall into the trap that those dregs want by reacting wrongly? Patience!
The Jelly-haired Chief Presidential Advisor has declared us PKK and FETÖ members! If these are the people with wisdom...
One Last Note for the Night: I did not respond to an accusation made exclusively to me; I responded to an insolence directed at everyone who criticized that pirate demonstration, which was against the law and order, including those lieutenants, in which I was also involved. Because I considered staying silent to be dishonorable. If no one took it personally, that is their problem, not mine. Those who remain silent in the face of those indecent accusations, which they know full well are directed at them, must know something. May God deal with them as He knows best. When only I spoke, the problem was understood as if it were a problem between two people. There is good in what happened. Every event has a litmus test function.
YİĞİT BULUT: I WILL SPEAK TOMORROW
Following Metiner's harsh words, the following statement came from Yiğit Bulut;
"Dear Friends, because I said "Whatever AK Party spokesperson Çelik says is the final word, he is the official spokesperson of the party",
I am being lynched by those of HDP origin by distorting my words!! WHEN IT COMES TO THE GREAT TURKISH NATION, I cannot remain silent any longer to the attacks of the HDP members!! I will speak tomorrow."
