The 'lieutenants' question Yaşar Güler could not answer: 'If reading the oath text is a crime...'

Republican People's Party (CHP) Deputy Chairman Burhanettin Bulut submitted a parliamentary question to Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler regarding the lieutenants facing dismissal from the TSK after crossing their swords and chanting "We are the soldiers of Mustafa Kemal" at their graduation ceremony.

According to a report by Sözcü, in his question regarding the lieutenants whose defense statements have been taken and for whom a decision is expected on January 16, Bulut asked Güler: “If reading the oath text is a crime, why did you applaud and congratulate the lieutenants and non-commissioned officers who took the same oath?”

In his response, Güler stated: “Our Ministry's duties and responsibilities, determined by law, are carried out in a timely and complete manner, in compliance with relevant legislation through authorized bodies and authorities, and are open to judicial review.”

Bulut responded by saying: “The Minister irrelevantly reminded us of the ministry's duties and powers. Because he has no reasonable answer. Turn back from this wrong path. Atatürk is the eternal commander-in-chief of our army, and defending him is not a crime.”

"THEY DID NOT DISMISS THE TURBANED ADMIRAL, THEY RETIRED HIM"

Bulut said the following:

“Nowhere in the world is a soldier who swears an oath of loyalty to their founding leader asked to be dismissed. The problem of those who did not dismiss the turbaned admiral from the army but instead retired him is our eternal Commander-in-Chief Atatürk.”
