'The maintenance was performed by a company approved by the ministry,' he had said: Ministry responds to CHP's Deniz Yavuzyılmaz's claim!
In a statement following the cable car accident in Antalya, CHP Deputy Chairman Deniz Yavuzyılmaz claimed that the cable car maintenance was performed by a company approved by the ministry. The Ministry of Industry and Technology denied Yavuzyılmaz's claim.
One citizen lost their life in the cable car tragedy that occurred in Antalya.
While rescue efforts continue for 13 people stranded in a cabin suspended in the air, CHP Deputy Chairman Deniz Yavuzyılmaz stated that the cable car maintenance was performed by a company approved by the Ministry of Industry and Technology.
Yavuzyılmaz spoke as follows;
"Regarding the cable car system where this painful incident took place, the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality has had its maintenance and repairs carried out by an expert company that is accredited, approved, and certified by the Ministry of Industry and Technology to perform its annual, monthly, and weekly maintenance.
The last annual maintenance performed was between February 19 and March 4, 2024. This maintenance contract and the resulting reports have been examined by us; the deficiencies identified during the maintenance were resolved, and as a result, the maintenance report was put into effect. At the same time, weekly and monthly maintenance were also performed. As for the April maintenance report, the maintenance was already ongoing at the time, and the checks were being carried out by this same expert maintenance and repair company.
This company is the same one that has been performing the maintenance and repairs for this cable car system, which has been in operation since 2017, and which was awarded the tender and signed the contract as of 2018. Therefore, it is clear and evident that all maintenance was carried out by ANET A.Ş., which is affiliated with the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality. The legal process regarding the matter will continue. In the meantime, the annexes to the contracts and the results of the reports will also be shared with the authorities conducting the administrative investigation. They have been shared up to this point as well."
