The Presidency's Directorate of Communications provided the following statement regarding the meeting:

Our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, held a phone call with President Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation.

The leaders discussed bilateral relations between Turkey and Russia, as well as regional and global issues.

During the meeting, President Erdoğan stated that Turkey does not approve of the attacks against Iran, nor does it condone Iran's retaliation against regional countries, and that contacts focused on peace and stability are continuing with all parties to prevent the war from spiraling further out of control.

Erdoğan noted that the Netanyahu government's aggressive policies across the region must be curbed, and that Israel's steps toward eroding the status of Jerusalem cannot be permitted.

President Erdoğan expressed that he is closely following the latest situation in Syria, that every step to strengthen stability in Syria is in the common interest of Turkey and Russia, and emphasized the importance of not putting the gains made there at risk.

President Erdoğan stated that it is important not to disrupt Turkey's efforts to bring the Russia-Ukraine war to a peaceful conclusion, that Turkey advises all parties to refrain from steps that would escalate tension, that attacks on civilian ships in the Black Sea harm the environment of stability, and that the war involving Iran should not create new areas of conflict in the Russia-Ukraine crisis.
