The order was given by appointed rector Naci İnci: CHP deputies denied entry to Boğaziçi University file criminal complaint
CHP deputies, who were met by private security at the gate and riot police inside while attempting to enter Boğaziçi University, have filed a criminal complaint.
The Republican People's Party (CHP) has filed a criminal complaint with the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office due to the obstruction of several deputies' entry into Boğaziçi University.
CHP Deputy Chairman Suat Özçağdaş made a statement in front of the Ankara Courthouse before the application, which was made alongside fellow deputies.
Stating that they, as deputies, wanted to attend Boğaziçi University's 157th graduation ceremony held on July 5 and support the protest that has been ongoing for 1279 days, Özçağdaş said their entry was blocked under the instructions of Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Naci İnci.
Expressing that deputies have parliamentary oversight duties, Özçağdaş announced that they filed the criminal complaint for the crimes of "misconduct in office" and "resisting to prevent the performance of duty" due to the obstruction of these duties.
CHP İzmir Deputy Yüksel Taşkın also stated that the protests at Boğaziçi University have been continuing for a long time without disrupting the flow of education.
Noting that they also submitted a parliamentary question on the matter, Taşkın said, "We will never leave them alone. Precisely for this reason, we have submitted a research motion so that what is happening there can be understood and subjected to parliamentary oversight. I want to state that we will always stand by this honorable and peaceful resistance."
