The Pope's new stop is Lebanon

Pope Leo XIV traveled to Lebanon following his visit to Turkey. The Pope, who landed at Beirut International Airport on a private A320neo aircraft operated by ITA Airways, was welcomed by Lebanese President Josef Aoun, Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri, and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam. Other high-level officials and their spouses were also present at the welcoming ceremony.

POLITICAL AND RELIGIOUS CONTACTS IN LEBANON

During his three-day visit to Lebanon, Pope Leo XIV will meet with political leaders and engage with religious communities. On the first day of his visit, the Pope will meet with Lebanese President Josef Aoun at the Presidential Palace, followed by meetings with Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam. Following these visits, a large-scale meeting will be held with representatives of civil society and diplomatic missions.

VISIT TO THE MONASTERY OF SAINT MARON AND THE SHRINE OF OUR LADY

On his second day in Lebanon, Pope Leo XIV will visit the Monastery of Saint Maron, where he will pray at the tomb of Saint Charbel. He will then proceed to the Shrine of Our Lady in Harissa, where he will hold a meeting with Christian clergy. At noon, the Pope will hold a private meeting with the Catholic patriarchs in Lebanon.

One of the most widely attended events for Pope Leo XIV will be the ecumenical and interfaith meeting to be held at 16:00 at Martyrs' Square in Beirut. This event will constitute one of the significant moments of the Pope's visit to Lebanon. In the evening, the Pope will meet with young people in the square in front of the Maronite Patriarchate of Antioch.

SILENT PRAYER AT THE PORT OF BEIRUT

On the final day of his visit, the Pope will visit the De La Croix Hospital in the morning to meet with patients and hospital staff. He will then hold a silent prayer in the area where the 2020 Beirut Port explosion occurred to commemorate those who lost their lives at that time. In the final part of his visit, he will conduct an open-air mass at the Beirut Waterfront.

Following Pope Leo XIV's visit to Lebanon, his plane will depart for Rome Fiumicino Airport, bringing this meaningful three-day visit to an end.
