The reason why Sırrı Süreyya Önder's funeral was not brought to Parliament has been revealed

DEM Party Istanbul MP and Deputy Speaker of the TBMM Sırrı Süreyya Önder had been under treatment following a heart attack on April 15 and passed away on May 3 after an 18-day intensive care process.

While a ceremony was held for Önder at the Atatürk Cultural Center, the reason why his funeral was not brought to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey became a subject of curiosity.

Journalist Fatih Atik made statements regarding the matter on the Medya Kritik program broadcast on TGRT Haber.

Speaking about Önder's funeral ceremony, Fatih Atik stated, "His body was not brought to Parliament because his family did not want it. Devlet Bahçeli touched Önder's photograph at the entrance of the hall. Sırrı Süreyya Önder was a person with a big heart. He had undertaken an important function as a bridge-builder. The hand extended was not just to Sırrı Süreyya Önder; the hand extended is the compassionate hand of the state. All parties were there. The striking image was Sırrı Süreyya Önder's body draped in the Turkish flag."
