The ruling coalition's junior partner raises its voice: Notable comments on the PKK

Great Unity Party (BBP) Chairman Mustafa Destici made significant remarks at the party's congress held at the Neşet Ertaş Culture Center Aşık Said Hall in Bozova.

Addressing the ongoing process regarding the terrorist organization PKK, Destici stated that the organization is displaying a performative attitude by laying down only a few weapons. Expressing that the PKK has not truly laid down its arms, Destici said, "We do not trust the PKK or those who direct it. They were supposed to disband the organization, but they did not. They only left a few weapons for show."

HE DREW ATTENTION TO THE PKK'S DEMANDS

Touching upon the PKK's demands, Destici made statements regarding the organization's goals. He said that the PKK is demanding a change in the name of the state, a change in the name of the nation, the introduction of autonomy, and the amnesty of all terrorists, including the head of the terrorist organization.

Destici used the expressions, "Their demands are clear; the name of the state should change, the name of the nation should change, autonomy should be introduced, and all terrorists, including the head of the terrorist organization, should be pardoned."

THE LARGE AMOUNT OF MONEY SPENT ON TERROR

Drawing attention to the money spent on the 40-year fight against terrorism, Destici said that over 2 trillion dollars in resources have been spent on counter-terrorism. "While the country's total debt is at the level of 550 billion dollars, we have spent 4 times that amount on terror. We have both had thousands of martyrs and the country's resources have been wasted," said Destici, noting that the PKK and its extensions are supported by the US, Israel, Germany, the UK, and France.

HE ALSO TOUCHED UPON THE MINIMUM WAGE

Destici also made important statements regarding the minimum wage. Emphasizing that the minimum wage should be brought to at least two-thirds of the salary of a public worker, Destici said, "The minimum wage needs to be brought to at least two-thirds of the salary received by a public worker." Furthermore, stating that the government has been unable to produce solutions regarding the raises given to retirees, he expressed that low-income citizens are being left under the burden of taxes alone.

THE BURDEN MUST BE BALANCED, THE REQUIREMENTS OF A SOCIAL STATE MUST BE MET

To resolve the salary imbalance between public workers, civil servants, minimum wage earners, and retirees, Destici proposed the establishment of a "Minimum Household Livelihood Commission." Requesting that the minimum cost of living for a family of 4 be determined in every province, Destici said, "If the household is in a rented home and has no other income, the state should pay the difference. This is a requirement of being a social state."
