The news that trustees were appointed to the Mardin, Batman, and Halfeti municipalities has created a stir. TRUSTEES APPOINTED TO 3 MUNICIPALITIES

The Ministry of Interior has appointed trustees to the Mardin Metropolitan Municipality, Batman Municipality, and Halfeti Municipality, which were under the administration of the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party).

DETENTIONS TOOK PLACE ON THIS DAY 8 YEARS AGO

On November 4, 2016, detention warrants were issued for 15 members of parliament, including former HDP Co-Chairs Selahattin Demirtaş and Figen Yüksekdağ. 11 members of parliament, including Selahattin Demirtaş and Figen Yüksekdağ, were taken into custody.

Demirtaş and Yüksekdağ, along with members of parliament İdris Baluken, Nursel Aydoğan, Leyla Birlik, Gülser Yıldırım, Selma Irmak, Abdullah Zeydan, and Ferhat Encu, were arrested. In subsequent operations, on December 11, 2016, HDP Group Deputy Chair Çağlar Demirel and member of parliament Besime Konca were taken into custody as they were leaving Parliament and were later arrested. HDP member Burcu Çelik Özkan was arrested in Muş on April 19, 2017.

The decision to appoint trustees to the 3 municipalities was made on the 8th anniversary of the operation carried out against Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) members of parliament on November 4, 2016.
