Improvements have been made to the salaries and social benefits of a total of 2,367 personnel working at the Şişli Municipality and its affiliated subsidiaries. With the signed contract, worker salaries, which were 17,002 TL, increased by 94 percent to 33,000 TL. Furthermore, the monthly income of the worker receiving the lowest wage, including bonuses, travel allowance, and meal allowance, has become 46,378 TL.

Şişli Municipality and GENEL-İŞ have successfully concluded collective bargaining agreement negotiations covering the period between March 1 and February 28, 2026.

The collective bargaining agreement for a total of 2,367 workers, 2,300 of whom are at the Municipality subsidiary Kentyol Kent Hizmetleri A.Ş and 67 of whom are on the Municipality staff, was signed at a ceremony held at the Cemil Candaş Cultural Center.

94 PERCENT INCREASE

With the new collective bargaining agreement, worker salaries, which were 17,002 TL, increased by 94 percent to 33,000 TL. Furthermore, the monthly income of the worker receiving the lowest wage became 46,378 TL, consisting of 8,250 TL in monthly bonuses, 1,388 TL in travel allowance, and 3,740 TL in meal allowance.

IMPROVEMENTS IN SOCIAL RIGHTS

In addition to wage increases, existing social rights were also expanded in the collective bargaining agreement. The 16-week maternity leave in addition to the 16-week maternity leave provided by the state to women who give birth, and the 1-month paternity leave provided to men whose spouses give birth, which were included in the contract in previous periods, were continued in this contract.

In the new contract, 1 day of menstrual leave per month was granted to women, and 5 days of excuse leave per year were granted to all personnel. Severance pay was also reorganized.

Severance pay, which was calculated based on 30 days in previous periods, will be calculated based on 40 days in accordance with the new contract.

ŞİŞLİ MUNICIPALITY IS YOURS

In his speech, Şişli Mayor Muammer Keskin said, “My dear fellow workers, working in Şişli is a privilege. Just a moment ago, my Deputy Provincial Chair said upstairs, ‘Mr. Mayor, they are coming to us with requests for favoritism, asking to be hired at the Şişli Municipality’.”

I know some of you are not satisfied. I wish we had the means to pay higher than these wages. But this is not a factory. Neither I nor Emrah after me is a boss; we are one of you. In fact, if you remember, I told you something when I arrived. This place is not mine. I am your Mayor; I rented it for 5 years. I will leave in 5 years, someone else will come, but you will always be here.

Şişli Municipality is yours, my dear fellow workers. No matter what level you work at, you need to protect us more than we protect you. Let us not fight with each other. Let us link arms. Let us plan our future together,” he said.

Stating that he also sought the opinion of Mayoral Candidate Emrah Şahan before signing the contract, Şişli Mayor Muammer Keskin said, “My brother Emrah and I followed a strategy like this. I do not find it right to sign a collective agreement without the approval of a friend, a fellow traveler, who will bear the burden on his shoulders for 5 years. It would be unfair. I would have signed this contract on my own behalf. Emrah wouldn't have said anything.

Even if I gave more, he wouldn't have said anything. But that is against my ethical understanding. I owe you all my eternal gratitude for the support you have given for 5 years, for putting up with me through the good and the bad. I thank you very much for your labor and contribution,” he said.
