Gülben Ergen's statement regarding the ministry's criminal complaint revealed: 'It is not true'

Ergen had made a post on her social media account regarding Fatmanur Çelik (30) and her daughter Hifa İkra Şengüler (8), who lost their lives on the Kazlıçeşme coast on March 2.

The Ministry of Family and Social Services filed a criminal complaint with the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against Gülben Ergen for the crime of 'publicly disseminating misleading information' regarding the post she made.

As part of the investigation initiated by the prosecutor's office, Gülben Ergen came to the Bakırköy Courthouse today to give her statement.

Ergen, who gave her statement at the Press Crimes Investigation Bureau for about an hour, made a statement after the proceedings.

'THE MOTHER AND DAUGHTER ARE NOT ALIVE RIGHT NOW'

Ergen said, "I made a post on social media upon a mother's call. That mother said, 'This is my call to Ms. Gülben; come and see our situation and our child on the spot.' I visited the mother at her home during the month of Ramadan. Friends, the mother and her daughter are not alive right now. The mother and daughter who said, 'I fear for my life,' are not alive right now. I am giving a statement regarding this.

I am very sad and hurt, but the prosecutor, as my lawyer also said, asked about my visit, when I went, what we talked about, and what I saw with extreme courtesy and understanding. I explained what I experienced and what I saw to the Prosecutor carefully and diligently. I am hurt and sad.

I am also waiting for justice for Rojin Kabaiş. My sensitivity regarding children, women, and girls will continue to increase. I am an artist of this country, a citizen of this country, and the founder and president of an association in this country.

I am a woman who is sensitive about children. This sensitivity of mine will not end. But am I sad? I am sad. Am I hurt? I am hurt. I was not sad or hurt while giving my statement inside; yes, questions were asked to me with understanding. I answered with understanding and care, but let us not forget that a mother and daughter are not alive right now," she said.

GÜLBEN ERGEN'S PROSECUTOR'S STATEMENT REVEALED

Gülben Ergen's statement to the prosecutor's office has been revealed. In her statement, Ergen said, "The accusations subject to the ministry's criminal complaint are not true.

I am 53 years old. Alongside my profession that I have carried out for years, I am sensitive about children and women. Furthermore, I have opened 61 kindergartens as the founder and president of the association named 'Çocuklar Gülsün' (Let Children Smile) with the approval of the Ministry of National Education at various times. Upon Fatma Nur's statement in front of the courthouse, where she said, 'I have no security of life, if I die, do not let them say I committed suicide,' and 'I am calling out to Gülben Ergen, come and see my daughter's situation in person at our home,' I went to Çekmeköy, where Fatma Nur's house is located, in the month of Ramadan in 2026 and visited her and her daughter.

I witnessed how bad her daughter's health condition was. In our meeting, Fatma Nur's biggest fear was the concern that the child would be handed over to the child's father, who raped her and abused her daughter.

I supported her on this matter. In our meeting, I did not ask whether there was a lawsuit regarding the sexual abuse and sexual assault acts against her and her child. However, as far as I remember from our meeting, she said that she was divorced from her husband, but that her ex-husband was not being tried for these crimes," she said.

'I HELPED THE CHILD WITHIN MY MEANS'

Ergen said in her statement, "We had a meeting like sisters. My purpose in the meeting was to prevent the child's victimization. I continued to talk to Fatma Nur by phone afterwards. I ensured the child's hospitalization for treatment.

Because the child was not drinking water, not eating, and not speaking. After seeing her state at home, I spoke with someone from the hospital to ensure her hospitalization for treatment purposes. Later, I called Fatma Nur and asked if she could go to the hospital. She said she could go, and she went to the relevant hospital that same day and ensured the child's admission. The child was hospitalized and received treatment for about 9-10 days, and she thanked me many times during this process. Later, she was discharged from the hospital.

During my visit to the family home, she did not tell me anything about the Ministry of Family and Social Services not being interested in her child or not providing any help. I definitely did not hear any complaints from Fatma Nur regarding this issue. However, as I stated in my statement above, the mother's main concern was that the child would be taken from her and given to the father, who was her ex-husband.

Furthermore, in my meeting with her, I repeatedly suggested that the child would not be taken from her because the child would not be given to the father who abused her and her daughter and against whom a lawsuit was filed. I also informed the Minister of Family and Social Services, Ms. Mahinur, about the process. I helped the child within my means regarding this matter.

Other than this, I did not make any statement contrary to the Ministry's work. As I stated in my statement above, I could not remain indifferent to Fatma Nur, who called out to me through the press and media during this process, so I contacted her.

For this reason, I am extremely sad about the criminal complaint filed by the Ministry. The acts attributed in the criminal complaint do not require me to be tried. Therefore, I request that a decision of non-prosecution be issued regarding me," she said.
