The Turkey Card era in transportation: It will be usable in 18 more provinces by the end of the year

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu made a written statement regarding the latest status of the Turkey Card Project.

Pointing out that the project is being carried out by PTT under the coordination of the Ministry, Uraloğlu emphasized that with the Turkey Card Project, which will consolidate public transportation cards in all 81 provinces of Turkey into a single card, the confusion of having different cards in every city will be ended, and a single public transportation card will be valid all across Turkey, from Edirne to Kars.

Minister Uraloğlu noted the importance of cooperation with municipalities for the project to spread to all 81 provinces, and recalled that they have opened the Turkey Card for use in the pilot provinces of Konya, Kayseri, Gümüşhane, Yozgat, and on the Gayrettepe-New Airport metro line in Istanbul.

Reporting that citizens have shown significant interest in the Turkey Card application in the 5 pilot provinces, Uraloğlu stated, "In these 5 pilot provinces, 47 thousand 265 Turkey Cards were sold in a short time. 118 thousand 273 trips were made with the Turkey Card."

Uraloğlu stated that they aim to increase the number of provinces included in the system to 18 by the end of the year, and added, "We aim to open the Turkey Card application for use by the end of the year in Rize, Kocaeli, Aksaray, Tokat, Karabük, Uşak, Kahramanmaraş, Nevşehir, Kilis, Çorum, and Gaziantep, primarily including Marmaray in Istanbul, Başkentray in Ankara, and İzban in İzmir."

WHERE TO GET THE TURKEY CARD?

Informing that the Turkey Card can be purchased from PTT branches, Uraloğlu noted the following:

"We are offering this project, which will provide convenience to our citizens in transportation, for a nominal fee. Citizens who want to purchase a Turkey Card from PTT branches will pay a symbolic amount of 40 liras for a 'non-chip' Turkey Card, and 60 liras for 'debit' and 'prepaid' Turkey Cards. Work is also continuing regarding cards to be given to privileged groups such as the disabled, relatives of martyrs, veterans, and those over 65. We are continuing our discussions with the Ministry of Family and Social Services."
