The vegetables and fruits with the highest price increases have been identified: IMM Wholesale Market Directorate announced

According to data from the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Wholesale Market Directorate, the increase in vegetable and fruit prices compared to last year has drawn attention.

Data from the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Wholesale Market Directorate has revealed the increase in the prices of basic food items, namely vegetables and fruits.

Since last November, increases exceeding 200 percent have been noted in many vegetables and fruits.

The product with the highest price increase compared to November of last year was broccoli, with a 260 percent increase. Broccoli was followed by Charleston peppers and tomatoes, both with a 250 percent increase.

BROCCOLI IS THE PRICE HIKE CHAMPION

The price of a kilogram of broccoli, which was sold for 25 TL in November of last year, rose to 90 TL this November, marking a 260 percent increase.

The price hike champion, broccoli, was followed by Charleston peppers and tomatoes. The prices of Charleston peppers and tomatoes increased by 250 percent, rising from 20 TL to 70 TL.

Cauliflower rose from 15 TL to 50 TL, an increase of 233 percent. Purslane, eggplant, zucchini, iceberg lettuce, curly lettuce, cucumbers, and bell peppers for stuffing, which are staples on dinner tables, also drew attention with increases of over 100 percent.

MANDARIN ORANGES SAW THE HIGHEST PRICE INCREASE AMONG FRUITS

The fruit that saw the most price hikes throughout the year was the mandarin orange, a winter staple. Mandarin oranges, which were sold for 15 TL per kilogram last November, were sold for 50 TL, a 233 percent increase. Similarly, grapes rose from 28 TL to 70 TL with a 150 percent increase; strawberries rose from 150 TL to 300 TL with a 100 percent increase. Lemons, pomegranates, oranges, bananas, and persimmons were also affected by the price increases.
