The world's happiest cities announced: three cities from Turkey made the list

The 2024 data for the "Happy City Index," which is prepared regularly every year, has been published. In the list prepared by the UK-based Institute for Quality of Life, which includes research involving city residents, evaluations were made based on criteria such as the environment, public transport, local economy, local governance, and general life, with 3 cities from Turkey also included in the list.

The world's happiest cities announced: three cities from Turkey made the list

In the research prepared by the UK-based Institute for Quality of Life, residents of the cities were asked questions about their quality of life, environment, public transport, and local governance. While a ranking was made according to the responses received, cities in Northern European countries took the top spots.

In the list where the Danish city of Aarhus is in first place, Switzerland's Zurich is in second place, and Germany's capital Berlin is in third place.

While Gothenburg in Sweden is fourth and Amsterdam is fifth, these cities were followed by Helsinki, Bristol, Copenhagen, Geneva, Munich, and Stockholm.

‘Istanbul is in the Bronze city category’

Three cities from Turkey were included in the list, where cities were placed into different categories based on the scores they received.

Istanbul was included in the Bronze city category by ranking 197th. While Istanbul surpassed cities such as Buenos Aires, Warsaw, and Cape Town, it remained behind cities such as Doha, Kuala Lumpur, Zagreb, and Liverpool.

The second city from Turkey in the prepared list was Izmir, which ranked 222nd. While Izmir remained behind Brașov and Malaga, it surpassed cities such as Jeddah and Toronto.

Antalya, which is in the fifth position from the bottom of the list, became the third city from Turkey to be included in the list. Antalya ranked 246th, surpassing cities from Brazil, Argentina, China, and South Africa.
