They arrived at the scene by Metrobus! What was inside the suspicious bag in the Çağlayan Courthouse attack has been revealed

At approximately 11:49 AM, shots were fired at the police checkpoint in front of the Çağlayan Istanbul Courthouse.

In the incident, it was announced that according to initial findings, 2 attackers, one of whom was a woman, were neutralized, 1 civilian lost their life, and 5 people, including 3 police officers, were injured.

New details regarding the act have been reached within the scope of the investigation conducted into the attack.

Deciphering the organizational codes of the act, Istanbul Intelligence Branch and Counter-Terrorism (TEM) teams are investigating the connections behind the attack.

Security and intelligence units, which carried out consecutive raids on many addresses, have detained 17 suspects so far in chain operations. While the detained suspects were taken to the Counter-Terrorism Branch for questioning, what was found in the bags and on the persons of the neutralized organization members has also been determined.

It was learned that 48 bullets, numerous plastic handcuffs, pepper spray, and a device of unknown nature were seized from the organization members.

THEY WENT TO THE SCENE BY METROBUS

It was learned that the terrorists, who arrived at the region where the courthouse is located by Metrobus, had 48 pistol bullets, numerous plastic handcuffs, pepper spray, and a device of unknown nature in their possession and in their bag.

It was understood that the female terrorist named Pınar Birkoç had a sister named Necmiye Birkoç who was being tried for membership in the same organization and had a hearing today at the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan.

It was noted that both terrorists were actively operating within the organization.

It was determined that Emrah Yayla, one of the terrorists killed in the clash between security forces and the terrorists, was caught with explosives while preparing for an act on April 6, 2007, and was sentenced to 14 years in prison in the case he was tried in.

While it was learned that Yayla, who served his sentence, was released on February 19, 2021, it was reported that Pınar Birkoç was detained on November 2, 2023, in an operation against the DHKP/C, and had gone through police investigations many times before that. It was alleged that Birkoç had served time in prison for "membership in a terrorist organization" and was subsequently released.

According to information obtained from police sources; it was revealed that the attackers' goal was to enter the Çağlayan Courthouse and take a prosecutor hostage.
