They hadn't been paid for 6 months: Hundreds of workers went on strike!

It has been reported that salaries have not been paid regularly for six months at the Şık Makas factory in Tokat, which employs approximately 3,000 people. While hundreds of workers have gone on strike, it was also noted that they were being pressured to join the Öz İplik İş union.

According to a report in Birgün, hundreds of workers who have not received their salaries at the Şık Makas denim factory located in the center of Tokat have gone on strike. It was stated that salaries have not been paid regularly for six months at the factory, where approximately 3,000 people work.

It is also stated that at the factory, where the Hak-İş affiliated Öz İplik İş union is organized, “workers are being prevented from joining other unions and are being pressured to become members of Öz İplik İş.”

The Tokat Labor and Democracy Platform, which includes the CHP, the Left Party (SOL Parti), the Labor Party (Emek Partisi), and KESK, visited the resisting workers.

The platform representatives, who were not allowed to enter the factory courtyard, stated that they “salute the workers' resistance and support their struggle.”
