The Hayrat Foundation, the foundation of the Yazıcılar branch of the Nur Community, had launched a program titled "In Pursuit of Cultural Heritage" as part of a protocol signed with the Ministry of National Education. It was reported in the media that an exam would be held at the end of the program and that one person would be awarded a trip for Umrah.

The foundation held Ottoman Turkish courses in schools for seven weeks while the academic term was ongoing. The final program, held on February 28, took place at the Emin Saraç Cultural Center in Başakşehir, Istanbul, with the participation of Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin. In a post on social media, the foundation stated that the program was carried out in 460 schools, that 10,000 students in Anatolian and Science high schools took the courses, and that 20,000 students participated in the seminars held in schools.

PROTOCOL SIGNED IN FEBRUARY

While the courses were ongoing, another protocol was signed between the Foundation and the Ministry of National Education on February 17. Article 2 states that the protocol covers cooperation in activities to be carried out in educational institutions, student dormitories, and overseas organizations affiliated with the Ministry, primarily including Ottoman Turkish and Quran reading and comprehension courses.

YAZICILAR WILL DICTATE, MEB WILL EXECUTE

In the protocol, the General Directorate of Lifelong Learning under the MEB was given the obligation to "carry out the planning, organization, and implementation of the courses to be opened in accordance with the relevant legislation." The General Directorate of Higher Education and Overseas Education was tasked with providing the necessary facilities to the foundation regarding the provision of training venues. The General Directorate of Secondary Education, the General Directorate of Religious Education, the General Directorate of Basic Education, provincial and district national education directorates, and the General Directorate of Vocational and Technical Education were tasked with "carrying out the work and procedures related to the activities to be organized in the schools under their jurisdiction in accordance with the legislation, and cooperating with the foundation in the realization of the activities within the scope of the protocol and in the use of school dormitories affiliated with the directorate in accordance with the legislation."

According to the protocol, provincial and district national education directorates will also be responsible for auditing all kinds of work and procedures in accordance with the legislation, and for the distribution of announcements, posters, advertisements, and brochures.

School principals will also work in cooperation with the foundation to ensure participation in the foundation's activities and the use of school dormitories in accordance with the legislation.
