In the Kaş district of Antalya, teams from the Kaş Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks (DKMP) identified two individuals hunting protected European bee-eaters (Merops apiaster) during routine protection and control activities. Inspections revealed that the hunters had killed 45 bee-eaters, which are under protection according to Central Hunting Commission (MAK) decisions. The individuals were issued a total administrative fine of 16 thousand 514 Turkish Lira for violating the Land Hunting Law No. 4915. Additionally, a total of 67 thousand 500 Turkish Lira in compensation was demanded for the bee-eaters they killed.

Authorities emphasized that efforts to protect nature and combat illegal hunting will continue. The Kaş DKMP Chief Office stated that they will continue to take the necessary measures for the sustainability of natural life in the region.
