Five employees at the Seferihisar Municipality, including three managers, attempted a 'cologne-burning' trend spreading on TikTok on a disabled colleague. As a result of the incident, which was intended as a prank, the face of Murat S., who has an intellectual disability, was burned and injured. Two people, including one manager, have been detained as part of the investigation launched into the incident.
An unbelievable "prank" carried out by municipal employees in the Seferihisar district of İzmir has drawn widespread outrage. According to allegations, five people working at the municipality, including three managers, applied a "cologne-burning" trend spreading on TikTok to a disabled staff member.

Murat S., who works as a civil servant at the municipality and is known in the district by the nickname "Efe," had cologne poured on him and was set on fire. Murat S., who thought the moment was a joke, was taken to the hospital with burns on his face.
INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED
Following the incident, Murat S. was taken to Seferihisar Necat Hepkon State Hospital and was discharged after his treatment was completed. However, it was stated that he suffered significant distress due to the burns on his face and the trauma he experienced.
The Seferihisar Chief Public Prosecutor's Office immediately launched an investigation into the incident. Teams from the District Police Department detained the Seferihisar Municipality Public Relations Manager, Ö.A., and one other municipal employee.
